SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- Hurricane Dean, packing 90-mile-an-hour winds, is expected to hit islands in the eastern Caribbean late tonight.
Hotels in Dominica and Martinique have been
preparing to evacuate tourists from seaside rooms.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami warns Dean could turn into a Category 3 storm by the time it reaches the central Caribbean early Sunday. It could grow even more powerful and become
a Category 4 as it spirals toward Cancun, on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, on Tuesday.
In St. Lucia, volunteers have been going door to door to alert islanders who may have missed radio and television advisories about the hurricane.
