{"id":1001,"date":"2020-12-04T21:17:03","date_gmt":"2020-12-04T21:17:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vi.gov\/covid\/?p=1001"},"modified":"2020-12-08T17:15:02","modified_gmt":"2020-12-08T17:15:02","slug":"bryan-roach-administration-issues-another-round-of-income-tax-refunds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vi.gov\/covid\/news-post\/bryan-roach-administration-issues-another-round-of-income-tax-refunds\/","title":{"rendered":"Bryan\/Roach Administration Issues  Another Round of Income Tax Refunds"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><em>Current $15 Million Payout Will Bring Total Refunds Under Governor Bryan to $112.8 Million\u00a0 And Will Include Income Tax Refunds for Tax Year 2018<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS \u2014\u00a0The Bryan\/Roach Administration is in the process of issuing another round of income tax refunds \u2013 $15 million in two disbursements that will be completed by December 15, according to the Bureau of Internal Revenue.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This latest round of tax refunds also will include refunds for tax year 2018.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>To date, the Bryan\/Roach Administration has issued 37,700 checks totaling $112.8 million. For Fiscal Year 2020, the Administration issued 24,700 checks totaling $68 million.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The $5 million run of 1,100 checks and the $10 million distribution that will be completed by December 15 are the first issuances of income tax refunds for FY 2021.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cA core foundation of the Bryan\/Roach Administration is stabilizing the government and restoring the people\u2019s trust in the government. The income tax refunds we have sent out is one way our Administration is living up to that promise,\u201d Governor Bryan said. \u201cWhile the COVID-19 pandemic has had a staggering effect on the Territory\u2019s economy and the Government\u2019s revenue, it also is important that the Government fulfill its obligation to the people.
