{"id":1446,"date":"2021-09-24T19:24:03","date_gmt":"2021-09-24T19:24:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vi.gov\/covid\/?p=1446"},"modified":"2021-10-06T15:53:58","modified_gmt":"2021-10-06T15:53:58","slug":"governor-bryan-issues-executive-order-extending-moratorium-on-evictions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vi.gov\/covid\/news-post\/governor-bryan-issues-executive-order-extending-moratorium-on-evictions\/","title":{"rendered":"Governor Bryan Issues Executive Order Extending Moratorium on Evictions"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size\"><em>Governor\u2019s Order Also Removes Restrictions on Attendance at Funerals, Clarifies Protocols for High- and Low-Risk Sports, Extends Suspension of Vehicle Inspections<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS \u2014 Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has issued a 28<sup>th<\/sup> Supplemental Executive Order regarding the COVID-19 pandemic that extends the moratorium on evictions until December 31, 2021; removing restrictions on the number of persons who can attend a funeral; clarifying the existing language to the sports section without amending the current rules; and suspending vehicle inspections for private vehicles until March 15, 2022.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The new protocols are effective immediately, and a copy of the 28<sup>th<\/sup> Supplemental Executive Order Modifying Conditions of the \u201cSafer-At-Home\u201d Phase \u2013 as well as all copies of Governor Bryan\u2019s executive orders \u2013 can be found at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vi.gov\/executive-orders\/\">vi.gov<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The extension of the eviction moratorium amends the 24<sup>th<\/sup> Supplemental Executive Order of May 25, 2021, and allows the moratorium to continue under existing conditions.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The removal of the limits of the number of attendees at a funeral amends Governor Bryan\u2019s 21<sup>st<\/sup> Supplemental Executive Order of January 27, 2021, but the requirement to adhere to all orders regarding Houses of Worship, facial coverings, mass gatherings, and business restrictions continues in full force and effect.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The 28<sup>th<\/sup> Supplemental Executive Order also clarifies the protocols regarding sports.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>There are no restrictions on training exercises for high-risk contact sports, including but not limited to, football, basketball and volleyball, including all leagues, \u201cpick-up\u201d leagues and scholastic athletic organizations as long as no player contact is made. However, there is a ban on games and organized group events for those sports.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>There are no restrictions on training, games and organized group events for low-risk sports, which include but are not limited to, baseball, softball, bowling, golf, cross-country, swimming, tennis, table tennis, pool, track and field, and competitive cheerleading as long as no player contact is made and health guidelines for masking, social distancing and mass gathering are followed.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The 28<sup>th<\/sup> Supplemental Executive Order also suspends all laws and rules regarding private vehicle inspections until March 15, 2021, unless the suspension is lifted at an earlier date.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The Bryan-Roach Administration is investing in the Territory\u2019s people, infrastructure and future through transparency, stabilizing the economy, restoring trust in the government and ensuring that recovery projects are completed as quickly as possible.
