{"id":897,"date":"2020-09-30T19:52:05","date_gmt":"2020-09-30T19:52:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vi.gov\/covid\/?p=897"},"modified":"2020-10-08T19:43:12","modified_gmt":"2020-10-08T19:43:12","slug":"governor-bryan-announces-release-of-10-million-in-income-tax-refunds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vi.gov\/covid\/news-post\/governor-bryan-announces-release-of-10-million-in-income-tax-refunds\/","title":{"rendered":"Governor Bryan Announces Release of $10 Million in Income Tax Refunds"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p><strong><em>Administration issues 24,718 refunds totaling $68.7 million for FY \u201820<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>September 30, 2020 | 9:20 AM AST<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS \u2013 Governor Albert Bryan Jr. announced Wednesday that the Virgin Islands Department of Finance has issued $10,101,884 in income tax refunds.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Wednesday\u2019s disbursement comprises 3,838 individual refund checks towards the issuance of refunds to tax filers who filed their taxes in tax year 2017.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Governor Bryan said, \u201cDespite the negative fiscal impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting economic shutdowns in the Virgin Islands, our Administration continues to work hard to meet the longstanding financial obligations of the Government and keep our promises to the hardworking taxpayers of the Territory. I realize that this is a stressful financial time for many individuals, and we are quite pleased to be able to make these reimbursements available to them.
