{"id":929,"date":"2020-10-23T19:06:03","date_gmt":"2020-10-23T19:06:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vi.gov\/covid\/?p=929"},"modified":"2020-10-25T21:19:39","modified_gmt":"2020-10-25T21:19:39","slug":"governor-bryan-signs-bills-extending-state-of-emergency-and-authorizing-the-gvis-purchase-of-property-on-st-croix","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vi.gov\/covid\/news-post\/governor-bryan-signs-bills-extending-state-of-emergency-and-authorizing-the-gvis-purchase-of-property-on-st-croix\/","title":{"rendered":"Governor Bryan Signs Bills Extending State of Emergency And Authorizing the GVI\u2019s Purchase of property on St. Croix"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS \u2014\u00a0Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has signed two pieces of legislation, one extending the current State of Emergency and the other authorizing the Government of the Virgin Islands (GVI) to purchase property on St. Croix.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The 33<sup>rd<\/sup> Legislature passed Bill No. 33-0424 on October 6 authorizing an extension until December 8 to the State of Emergency that Governor Bryan declared in March as the COVID-19 pandemic began to spread throughout the Territory.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The Legislature passed Bill No. 33-0419 on September 30 approving the GVI\u2019s purchase of two parcels totaling about 6 acres in Estate La Grange on St. Croix from Dr. Rafael Garcia for $282,187.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The land will be used to complete Phase II of the Frederiksted Economic Revitalization Project, which is an initiative to beautify and upgrade Frederiksted\u2019s Tourism infrastructure while maintaining the historic town\u2019s charm and cultural appearance.<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS \u2014&nbsp;Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has signed two pieces of legislation, one extending the current State of Emergency and the other authorizing the Government of the Virgin Islands (GVI) to purchase property on St. Croix.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":932,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[6],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-929","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news-post"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.0 -
