The Virgin Islands flag will be flown at half-staff on public buildings from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday, June 10, the day of former Senator Russell’s funeral.

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — Governor Albert Bryan Jr. today ordered that the Virgin Islands flag be flown at half-staff at Government House and on all public buildings across the Territory from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, the day funeral services are held for former Senator Ronald E. Russell.

The Governor’s order honors former Senator Russell’s years of service to the people of the Virgin Islands and recognizes his contributions as a legislator, attorney and respected member of the community.

“Former Senator Ronald E. Russell was part of the public life of this Territory for many years, and his service helped shape important conversations about law, government and the future of the Virgin Islands,” Governor Bryan said. “He brought his legal training, his experience and his commitment to public service to the Legislature and to the broader community he served.”

Governor Bryan said the lowering of the Virgin Islands flag is a public mark of respect for Russell’s life and legacy.

“When the Virgin Islands flag is lowered on the day of his funeral, it will stand as a solemn tribute from the Territory he served,” Governor Bryan said. “We honor his contributions, we remember his service, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, former colleagues and all who mourn his passing.”

Governor Bryan encourages the people of the Virgin Islands to join in reflecting on former Senator Russell’s service and in offering prayers and support to his family and loved ones during this time of loss.
