U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS —  The 33rd Legislature met in session on Tuesday and approved the request of Governor Albert Bryan Jr. to extend the State of Emergency for 60 days until December 8.

With the extension, the Governor’s current Executive Orders remain in effect in an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in the Territory. It had been set to expire on Friday, October 9.

“As we have seen, not only here in the Territory but also on the mainland, this pandemic is likely to affect our lives for months to come, and now national health experts have concerns about another surge as the country heads into flu season,” Governor Bryan said. “I thank the Legislature for recognizing that and taking the appropriate action so we can keep our community as safe as possible and stem the spread of this virus.”
