“I am honored and delighted to join you all today in celebrating Virgin Islands Puerto Rico Friendship Day. As we come together to commemorate 59 years of strengthening our cultural bonds with pride, it is a momentous occasion that fills our hearts with joy and gratitude.
“The Virgin Islands Puerto Rico Friendship Committee has played an invaluable role in fostering and nurturing the enduring connection between our beloved Virgin Islands and our brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico. This day is a testament to the unbreakable bond that unites us, transcending borders and celebrating our shared heritage, traditions, and history.
“Today, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the distinguished honorees of this year’s celebration: Daniel Rodriguez, Soé Diaz Soto, and Domitila Vargas. These remarkable individuals exemplify the rich tapestry of Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico heritage and inspire us with their unwavering dedication to public service. Their contributions have enriched our communities and strengthened the ties that bind us.
“As we reflect on the past 59 years of friendship and look forward to a future filled with even deeper connections, let us remember the values that have defined our relationship: unity, resilience, and community spirit.
“Together, we can continue to build bridges of understanding, share our unique cultures, and work hand in hand to create a brighter and more prosperous future for all.
“I look forward to a safe and fun-filled weekend of festivities and activities in celebration of our shared heritage and enduring friendship between our islands. Happy Virgin Islands/ Puerto Rico Friendship Day!”
