ST. CROIX — The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) regrets to inform the community that the Anguilla Landfill is temporarily closed today, Friday, October 25, 2024, due to an unexpected flare-up.
The safety of our residents is our highest priority, and we understand the concerns that may arise from this incident.
The Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Service (VIFEMS), VIWMA, and the landfill’s contracted team are working tirelessly to control and extinguish the fire to ensure the safety of the surrounding community.
We strongly urge residents in the area to exercise caution and avoid any smoke that may be coming from the area.
