U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS —  During the weekly press briefing on Tuesday, Government House Communications Director Richard Motta Jr. delivered a message from Governor Albert Bryan Jr., who is self-quarantining after returning to the Territory from the mainland and who thanked the community for keeping his family in their prayers.

“The Governor also expressed how much the kind words and encouragement has kept his family strong during a very stressful time,” Director Motta said. “The Governor and First Lady Yolanda Bryan send their heartfelt thanks to all of you.”

Director also shared a statement from Governor Bryan regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and urging residents to continue following the guidelines from the Virgin Islands Department of Health for social distancing, wearing masks and avoiding mass gatherings.

“Our Government has not been as extreme in restricting our residents as other places have been,” Director Motta said on behalf of Governor Bryan. “So it is important that those measures we have adopted be fully adhered to. Yet some people continue to find ways to violate the Executive Orders or to circumvent the requirements. Don’t join them.”
