U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – Governor Albert Bryan Jr. announced Tuesday that Government House Deputy Chief of Staff Kevin Rodriquez, who supervises the Bryan Roach Administration’s Island administrators, will assume the role and responsibilities of the St. Thomas/Water Island District Administrator during Administrator Avery Lewis’ leave of absence.
This temporary leadership transition follows Administrator Lewis’ recent decision to pursue a seat in the 36th Legislature of the Virgin Islands. In compliance with Virgin Islands law, specifically Title 18 Chapter 1 Subsection 2 of the Virgin Islands Code (VIC 18 V.I.C. § 2), candidates seeking election to the Virgin Islands Legislature are required to take a leave of absence from their governmental duties. Administrator Lewis officially filed his nomination paperwork on Tuesday, May 21st.
“Avery Lewis has served the St. Thomas/Water Island district with dedication and with deep commitment to our community. We fully support his decision to pursue a seat in the 36th legislature and wish him well in his future endeavors,” Governor Bryan stated.
In addition to the interim role as Administrator, Kevin Rodriguez will continue his current duties as Government House Deputy Chief of Staff. “I am confident that Kevin Rodriquez’s leadership will be instrumental in assisting the residents of St. Thomas and Water Island during this transitional time. His proven record of effective management and community engagement positions him well to maintain progress in the district,” said Governor Bryan.
The Governor thanks Mr. Lewis for his service and Mr. Rodriquez for assuming this critical role during this important time for the islands.
