US VIRGIN ISLANDS— Governor Albert Bryan Jr. announced Monday the appointment of Sirri Hamad as the Governor’s Envoy to the Middle Eastern Community in the Virgin Islands. This appointment underscores the Governor’s commitment to enhancing relations and fostering understanding between the Virgin Islands and the Middle Eastern community.
Sirri Hamad, a respected leader within the Virgin Islands’ Middle Eastern community, will serve as a bridge, enhancing dialogue and cooperation. His deep ties and understanding of both communities will be invaluable in his new role.
In a further demonstration of solidarity and commitment to peace and friendship, Governor Bryan also declared November 29th as Virgin Islands-Palestinian Friendship Day across the territory. This date coincides with the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, recognized globally.
“June 5th marked the 57th anniversary of a pivotal moment in history, leading to prolonged conflicts in the Middle East. The Palestinian people, who have become an integral part of Virgin Islands society, contribute significantly to our business sector and community life,” said Governor Bryan. “It is essential we recognize and strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation that unite us. Therefore, I am declaring November 29th as Virgin Islands-Palestinian Friendship Day.”
Governor Bryan also called for an immediate ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. “As individuals, regardless of our skin color or origin, we should all want peace. The Virgin Islands stands with the international community in seeking an immediate cessation of hostilities,” Governor Bryan emphasized.
