Governor Bryan Has Full Slate of Meetings With Members of Congress on Tuesday

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – While he is in Washington, D.C., this week, Governor Albert Bryan Jr. had a full slate of meetings on Tuesday with various members of Congress, with whom he advocated for the Territory and strengthened relationships with ranking Democrats.

The meetings largely were focused on lobbying for the U.S. Virgin Islands’ full inclusion in President Biden’s $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill and other economic development initiatives to benefit the Territory.

Governor Albert Bryan Jr. and South Carolina Rep. James Clyburn, the House Majority Whip, met Tuesday in Washington, D.C.

The Governor met with South Carolina Rep. James Clyburn, who is the House Majority Whip and Massachusetts Rep. Richard Neal, who is chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.

Governor Bryan also met with Washington Rep. Suzan DelBene, who is vice-chairwoman of the House Ways and Means Committee, Connecticut Rep. Rosa DeLauro, who is chairwoman of the House Appropriations Committee and Robert Edmonson, chief of staff to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Virgin Islands Delegate to Congress Stacey Plaskett accompanied Governor Bryan to some of the meetings.

The Governor also had a full slate of meetings scheduled for Wednesday in the nation’s capital, and he returns to the Territory on Thursday, August 26, 2021.
