U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — The Office of the Governor, in partnership with FreshMinistries Inc., invites the media to a ground-breaking ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, at Estate Bethlehem, St. Croix, for the launch of an agribusiness center to support aquaponics farming and entrepreneurship in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The Estate Bethlehem project is part of the “Desmond Tutu Program to End Global Hunger”, an initiative to address global hunger by FreshMinistries, a Florida-based interfaith humanitarian organization.
FreshMinistries was awarded a $2 million grant by the Economic Development Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce to build the center so it can serve “as a catalyst for the revitalization of the agriculture industry and diversification of the territory’s economic base,” according to the EDA.
