Governor Bryan Issues Statement Commemorating 103rd Anniversary of Transfer Day

US VIRGIN ISLANDS – Governor Albert Bryan Jr, issued the following statement in observance of the 103rd anniversary of Transfer Day:

“While our response to the COVID-19 virus calls us from our usual ceremonial commemoration of Transfer Day, I encourage all Virgin Islanders to take the time today to reflect on the historical significance of Transfer Day, and more importantly on the economic and political progression of our people throughout our history and over the last 103 years.

“We are at a point in our history, which requires a more meaningful examination of our political status, but if we are to renew, once again the process of self-determination, we have to begin a rigorous and comprehensive campaign to educate our community on the pathways to resolving the question of political status,” said Governor Bryan.
