MDM, Inc. Lauds viNGN Role in 2018 Carnival Village LiveStream

The Virgin Islands Next Generation Network, Inc. (viNGN) provided world-class connectivity on its 100% fiber-optic network for live streaming of local and international artists to the world from St. Thomas Carnival Village, according to Omari Hicks, CEO of entertainment media outlet MDM, Inc. The partnership included the Virgin Islands Carnival Committee under Executive Director Halvor Hart II.

“The Team at MDM Inc. and I would like to personally acknowledge viNGN for their flawless services which allowed the 2018 Carnival Village entertainment to be streamed at an uninterrupted high quality,” Hicks shared in a written message to viNGN on Wednesday. “The technicians were fast, responsive and courteous to our needs as we prepared for the 2018 Carnival Village Opening. Once again, thank you for your professionalism and hope to continue a good working relationship with your company,” he concluded.

From Village opening night to the end of the “last lap” (April 20-28, 2018), the culture, artistry and revelry at “Judy’s Gypsyville” (in honor of Judy Watson and the legacy of the Gypsy Carnival Troupe) were on display via the Internet. Additionally, viNGN complemented its two existing nearby hot spots at Emancipation Garden and Roosevelt Park with free Wi-Fi inside the Carnival Village throughout the festivities.

“We couldn’t be prouder of our Network Operations Center and Outside Plant Teams,” stated viNGN President and CEO Dr. Mark McGibbon. “Lead Field Technician, Celestino White, was so enthusiastic about making this happen. He and our Network Operations Center Technicians on St. Thomas and St. Croix respectively, Benaiah Nicholson and Kevin Maynard played key roles in configuring the live streaming and Wi-Fi service that brought so much joy around the world.”

viNGN continues to provide free Wi-Fi access throughout the territory. All are invited to view the listing at www.vingn.com/free-wi-fi-hot-spots and follow viNGN on social media (on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) as @viNextGen.
