Governor Albert Bryan Jr. released the following statement today congratulating the newly sworn members of the 36th Legislature of the Virgin Islands of the United States:
“Today, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the newly sworn members of the 36th Legislature of the Virgin Islands. Your induction marks the beginning of a new legislative term and the continuation of our collective commitment to serve the people of these Virgin Islands with integrity, purpose, and unwavering dedication.
“As we embark on this new chapter, let us remember that the progress our community depends on can only be achieved through collaboration. It is through a spirit of partnership—where we set aside differences and focus on shared goals—that we will advance the needs of our territory. The people of these Virgin Islands count on us, not merely as individuals or separate branches of government, but as one elected body entrusted with realizing their hopes, addressing their challenges, and building a brighter future for all.
“I also extend my sincere gratitude to the members of the 35th Legislature for their tireless efforts in laying the groundwork for the progress we continue to pursue. While much has been accomplished, we know significant work still needs to be done. Yet, I remain confident that together—with the commitment and vision of the 36th Legislature—we will build on those efforts, overcome the obstacles before us, and meet the expectations of the Virgin Islands’ voting public.
“As governor, I am acutely aware that we share the responsibility to address the issues facing our community—whether newly emergent or decades in the making. I acknowledge the weight of that responsibility and reaffirm my steadfast commitment to working with each member of this esteemed body to resolve those issues and to lead with courage and conviction.
“Our work will not be without challenges. There will be moments when the path forward may seem uncertain, but as I reflect on the trust the people have placed in us, I am reminded of this truth: The people did not elect us to do a job they considered easy. They chose us because they believed we were among the best and most qualified to address the challenges at hand and to execute the vision they hold for our Virgin Islands.
“With this in mind, I look forward to the critical work ahead. I wish each member of the 36th Legislature success in your endeavors, and I reaffirm my administration’s commitment to working with you to achieve our shared goals. Together, let us meet this moment with determination, unity, and the resolve to leave an enduring legacy for the people we serve.
Congratulations once again.”
