U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has issued a proclamation that the COVID-19 State of Emergency has been automatically extended to March 11.
The State of Emergency was set to expire on February 9, 2022; however, because the Legislature did not take action on the Governor’s previous request for an extension, the State of Emergency was automatically extended for another 30 days.
“The State of Emergency declared effective March 13, 2020, as renewed, supplemented, and extended, which is set to expire on February 9, 2022, is automatically extended for an additional 30 days pursuant Title 23, Section l 005(d) of the Virgin Islands Code on the basis that a request for approval of a 90 day extension was filed by the Governor with the Thirty-Fourth Legislature on February 4, 2021, and the Legislature failed to consider the request within the five-day period required by Section 1005(d),” the proclamation says.
“As such, the State of Emergency, along with all terms declared and ordered, as renewed, extended, and supplemented shall continue in full force and effect through March 11, 2022, unless earlier lifted or extended by order of the Governor of the United States Virgin Islands,” the proclamation says.
